Adrien Gardere

Background

Adrien Gardère spent his youth in India and commuted between the east and west during his apprenticeship as a cabinet maker and designer. Now he lives in Paris's Quartier Sentier. His work in three disciplines : furniture design, stage design, and interior architecture takes him to Milan, London, Paris, Cairo... sometimes to India or Indonesia. He makes an intelligent accommodation between traditional know-how and contemporary needs; his creations are characterized by the desire to escape from stereotypes of innovation that compromises comfort and the quality of life. His objective is clear:

'Create products whose relevance and legitimacy gives them a longevity far greater than you find in the incessant to-and-fro of the consumer world.'

Works

For Ligne Roset his designs include VAPEUR D´O and lamps such as DELIGHT and CORNER LAMP. DELIGHT was awarded the Product Design Award 1999 by the Industrieforum Design, Hannover, Germany.
